Our Mildenhall On Track Education Centre is a partly refurbished two storey building made up of four units situated in the middle of a light industrial estate. The buildings consist of: six first floor teaching rooms plus large nurture group room, ground floor I.C.T. suite, kitchen/dining area, offices and staff room. The staff are also currently developing a fully equipped music studio and gym. A large vocational studies area is on the ground floor to accommodate design and technology, vehicle maintenance and construction skills.
The Staff and Subject Specialisms
The team consists of a the Head of Centre, a Teaching and Learning Manager and a team of subject specialist teachers and tutors. Life Skills and Work Related Learning are embedded in the On Track Curriculum. Four Learning Support Assistants work alongside individual students.
The staff specialise in working with young people with Statements of Special Education Needs (ESBD) and other barriers to learning including Dyslexia, Aspergers, Autism and ADHD.
All students follow an off site Activities Programme making use of local leisure centres and facilities.
All staff are trained in Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning and Communication Difficulties.
Purpose built premises
The students are offered a curriculum, taught by the teachers, of English, Maths, Science, I.C.T, P.H.S.E, Art, Humanities, Life and Social Skills and Work Related Learning.
The learning programme also includes Creative Arts, Physical Fitness sessions, Animal Care, Photography, Music, Business Studies and Cookery as well as Creative Technology, Car Mechanics, Welding and Building.
Alternative curriculum with emphasis on work related skills and accreditation through AQA Unit Award Scheme, Entry Level Certificates, Functional Skills and GCSE qualifications
A Nurture Group which provides a secure and reliable small class setting where students can learn by re-experiencing pre/primary-school nurture from two adults who actively work towards enabling their successful resettlement into the whole school
